"Roller Zoku: The Fascinating World of Japanese Rock and Rollers"
My journey with this project began when I first took pictures of Johnny, a member of the Japanese rockabilly subculture, in Yokohama in January 2019. I was immediately fascinated by the unique fashion, music, and community of this group of individuals.
In December 2019, I had the incredible opportunity to tour with Johnny and his band in Canada, capturing their performances and experiences on camera. Little did we know that this would be one of the last tours before the pandemic hit.
During the pandemic, I spent countless hours editing the pictures and compiling the stories and interviews into "Roller Zoku." I am proud of the final product, and I am excited to share that the book was designed by Small Edition, a talented design studio that brought my vision to life.
"Roller Zoku" is an exploration of the rockabilly subculture in Japan,
